Rock County, Minnesota is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 9721 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 9476, making it Minnesota's 16th smallest county. It is spread over 482.84 sq mi (1250.55 sq km), of which, 482.61 square miles (1249.95 sq km ) of it is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 sq km) of it is water, making it the 18th smallest by size in Minnesota.

The population density was 20.1 people per square mile (7.76/kmē), it is 54th most densely populated county in Minnesota. There were 4137 housing units at an average density of 8.6 per square mile (3.32/kmē). The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.01. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.3% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 20.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 9476, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 9229 White, 63 Black or African American, 56 American Indian, 75 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 51 from two or more races.
