Rochester City is a city in the Fulton County, Indiana, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 6414 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 6457, making it Indiana's 96th largest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.67 square miles (14.69 kmē), of which, 4.56 square miles (11.81 kmē) of it is land and 1.11 square miles (2.87 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 84th largest by total area among Indiana. It is ranks 15 in the size of its inland waterways in Indiana.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 6414 people, 2757 households, and 1734 families residing in the city. The population density was 1407.4 people per square mile (543.4/kmē), it is Indiana's 341st most densely populated city. There were 3188 housing units at an average density of 699.1 per square mile (269.92/kmē). The average household size was 2.3 and the average family size was 2.9. In the city the population was spread out, with 23.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 19.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.3 males. The median age of the city's population was 39.6 years, The median age of males was 37.1 years, for females the median age was 41.9 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 6173 White, 29 Black or African American, 38 American Indian, 54 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 65 from two or more races and 55 Ohter races.
