The population of census designated place in 2000 stood at 14588 as per the Census data. It is the 28th most populous in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The census designated place has a total area of 3.56 mi˛ (9.22 square kilometre), of which, 2.82 square miles (7.3 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.75 square miles (1.94 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 168th largest by area in the U.S. state of Louisiana.
