Ripley County is a one of the county from Missouri's 115 counties and independent city, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 13509. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 13485, It is the 74th most populous county in the U.S. state of Missouri. It covers total area of 631.66 square miles (1635.99 sq km), of which, 629.47 square miles (1630.32 sq km) of it is land and 2.2 square miles (5.7 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 48th largest by total area among Missouri's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13509 people in the county, organized into 5416 households, and 3848 families residing in the county. The population density was 21.5 people per square mile (8.3/kmē), it is 38th least densely populated county in Missouri. There were 6392 housing units at an average density of 10.2 per square mile (3.94/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.46 persons, and the average family size was 2.95 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.8% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.1 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 13485, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.55% White, 0.38% Black or African American, 1.44% American Indian, 0.32% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 1.3% from two or more races.
