Rio Hondo City, Cameron County, Texas is a city located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 1942. Its population was estimated at 2128 in July 2008, It is the 658th largest in terms of population. It is spread over 1.48 square miles (3.83 square kilometre), of which, 1.39 square miles (3.6 square kilometre ) of it is land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 471st smallest by size in Texas.
