Rio Arriba County is a one of the county from New Mexico's 33 counties, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The county has a population of 41190 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 40692, It is New Mexico's 13th most populous county. The county has a total area of 5896.1 square miles (15270.83 sq km), of which, 5857.63 square miles (15171.19 sq km) of it is land and 38.47 square miles (99.64 sq km) of it is water, it is the fifth largest by area in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in New Mexico.
