Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 199486, making it Georgia's eighth largest county. The county encompasses an area of 328.45 square miles (850.68 kmē ), of which, 324.04 square miles (839.26 kmē) of it is land and 4.41 square miles (11.42 kmē) of it is water, it is the 90th largest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.
