Richmond City is a United States city located in the Fort Bend County, Texas, United States. The population of the city was 11081 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 13493, giving it the 196th largest population among Texas. The city extends throughout a territory of 3.94 mi˛ (10.2 sq km ), of which, 3.72 square miles (9.63 sq km) of it is land and 0.22 square miles (0.57 sq km) of it is water, it is the 514th largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 11081 people, 3413 households, and 2629 families residing in the city. The population density was 2975.4 people per square mile (1148.81/km˛), it is the 70th most populated city in terms of population density. There were 3595 housing units at an average density of 966.4 per square mile (373.13/km˛). The average household size was 3.16 persons, and the average family size was 3.6 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 31.6% under the age of 18, 11% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.2 males. The racial makeup of the city was 51.2% White, 13.55% Black or African American, 0.63% American Indian, 0.53% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, 3.01% from two or more races and 31% Other races.
