Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 36733, making it the 15th most populous in Indiana. The city has a total area of 23.28 sq mi (60.29 square kilometre), of which, 23.21 square miles (60.11 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 17th largest by size in Indiana.
