Richland County is a county located in Illinois, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 16149 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 15532, It is Illinois's 30th least populous county. The county extends throughout a territory of 362.01 miē (937.6 kmē ), of which, 360.14 square miles (932.76 kmē) of it is land and 1.87 square miles (4.84 kmē) of it is water, making it Illinois's 20th smallest county by total area.

For every 100 males there were 107.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111.4 females.
