Rice County, Kansas is a county of the United States of Kansas. Rice County had an official population of 10761 in 2000. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 10060, giving it the 40th largest population among Kansas's county. The county extends throughout a territory of 728.3 square miles (1886.29 square kilometre ), of which, 726.58 square miles (1881.83 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.72 square miles (4.45 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 54th largest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas.

The population density was 14.8 people per square mile (5.71/kmē), it is the 42nd most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Kansas. There were 4609 housing units at an average density of 6.3 per square mile (2.43/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.7% under the age of 18, 13.3% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 18% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.2 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 10060, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 9623 White, 149 Black or African American, 99 American Indian, 71 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 114 from two or more races.
