Rhode Island, is a state located in the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. In 2000, state's population was 1048319 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1050788, It is the eighth smallest in terms of population. It has total area of 1545.05 square miles (4001.66 square kilometre), of which, 1044.93 square miles (2706.36 square kilometre) of it is land and 500.12 square miles (1295.3 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the smallest by size in United States.

The population density was 1003.2 people per square mile (387.34/kmē), it is United States's second most densely populated state. There were 439837 housing units at an average density of 420.9 per square mile (162.51/kmē). The average household size was 2.47 persons, and the average family size was 3.07 persons. In the state the population was spread out, with 23.6% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.8 males. The median age is 36.7 years, The median age of males was 35.4 years, for females the median age was 38 years. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the state is 1048319, The racial makeup of the state was 85.01% White, 4.47% Black or African American, 0.49% American Indian, 2.26% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, 2.69% from two or more races and 5.02% Other races.
