Republic County is a county in the United States of Kansas. In 2000, the population was 5835. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 4812, It is the 69th most populous county in the U.S. state of Kansas. It has total area of 720.31 sq mi (1865.59 sq km), of which, 716.38 square miles (1855.42 sq km) of it is land and 3.93 square miles (10.18 sq km) of it is water, making it the 60th largest by size in Kansas.

The population density was 8.1 people per square mile (3.13/kmē), it would be the 60th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Kansas. The population's age distribution was 22.3% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 25% from 45 to 64, and 26.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.8 males.
