Renville County is a county located in Minnesota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of the county was 17154 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 15861, It is the 54th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The county encompasses an area of 987.22 square miles (2556.89 square kilometre ), of which, 982.92 square miles (2545.75 square kilometre) of it is land and 4.3 square miles (11.14 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Minnesota's 23rd largest county by total area.

The population density was 17.5 people per square mile (6.76/kmē), it is Minnesota's 28th least densely populated county. There were 7413 housing units at an average density of 7.5 per square mile (2.9/kmē). The average household size was 2.48 persons, and the average family size was 3.05 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.5% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.5 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 15861, The racial makeup of the county was 15495 White, 23 Black or African American, 168 American Indian, 48 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 124 from two or more races.
