Rensselaer City is one of the city of Rensselaer County, New York, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 7761 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 7907, giving it the 237th largest population among New York. The city has a total area of 3.33 miē (8.62 kmē), of which, 3.01 square miles (7.8 kmē) of it is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 kmē) of it is water, it is the 344th largest by area in the U.S. state of New York.
