Red Lake County is one of the 87 county of Minnesota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 4069, It is the third smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is spread over 432.51 miē (1120.2 kmē), of which, 432.43 square miles (1119.99 kmē ) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 kmē) of it is water, it is the seventh smallest by area in the U.S. state of Minnesota.

The population density was 9.9 people per square mile (3.82/kmē), making its Minnesota's 14th least densely populated county. There were 1883 housing units at an average density of 4.4 per square mile (1.7/kmē). The average household size was 2.39 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.5% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 19.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 99.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 100.1 females.
