Ravalli County is a one of the county from Montana's 56 counties, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The county has a population of 36070 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 40664, It is the seventh largest county by population in the U.S. state of Montana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2400.32 square miles (6216.8 kmē), of which, 2394.21 square miles (6200.98 kmē) of it is land and 6.11 square miles (15.82 kmē) of it is water, it is the 26th largest by area in the U.S. state of Montana.

The population density was 15.1 people per square mile (5.83/kmē), it is the eighth most populated county in terms of population density. Age range in the county was well distributed with 25.6% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 28% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who were 65 or older. Its population was estimated at 40664 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 39530 White, 91 Black or African American, 387 American Indian, 146 Asian, 32 Native Hawaiian, and 478 from two or more races.
