Rappahannock County is a United States county located in the United States of Virginia. The county has a population of 6983 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 7158, It is 15th least populous county in Virginia. The county encompasses an area of 266.83 sq mi (691.09 square kilometre ), of which, 266.57 square miles (690.41 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.26 square miles (0.67 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 81st largest by total area in Virginia.

In the county Age distribution was 22.3% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 31.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 102.8 females.
