Ramsey County is one of the 53 county of North Dakota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 12066. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 11234, making it the 11th most populous county in North Dakota. It covers total area of 1300.88 sq mi (3369.26 sq km), of which, 1184.85 square miles (3068.75 sq km) of it is land and 116.04 square miles (300.54 sq km) of it is water, it is the 22nd largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in North Dakota.

The population density was 10.2 people per square mile (3.94/kmē), making its North Dakota's ninth most densely populated county. There were 5729 housing units at an average density of 4.8 per square mile (1.85/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.34 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the county Age distribution was 25% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.4 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 11234, The racial makeup of the county was 9929 White, 50 Black or African American, 954 American Indian, 54 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 246 from two or more races.
