Its population was estimated at 79357 in July 2008, It is the sixth largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 609.34 miē (1578.18 kmē), of which, 606.93 square miles (1571.94 kmē) of it is land and 2.41 square miles (6.24 kmē) of it is water, it is the tenth largest by area in the U.S. state of West Virginia.
