Raleigh City is a city located in Wake and Durham counties, North Carolina, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Raleigh City is home to 276093 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 392552, making it North Carolina's second largest. The city extends throughout a territory of 115.57 sq mi (299.32 square kilometre ), of which, 114.6 square miles (296.81 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.97 square miles (2.51 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the second largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 276093 people in the city, organized into 112608 households, and 61327 families living in the city.
