Rainsville City is a United States city located in the DeKalb County, Alabama, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 4499 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 4990 in July 2008, It is the 116th largest in terms of population. The city extends throughout a territory of 19.88 mi˛ (51.49 sq km ), of which, 19.86 square miles (51.44 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, it is the 48th largest by area in the U.S. state of Alabama.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4499 people in the city, organized into 1880 households, and 1337 families living in the city.
