Rainier City is a one of the Columbia County, Oregon, located in Western Region (Pacific) of United States. The population of the city was 1687 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 1806 in July 2008, making it the 153rd most populous in Oregon. The city has a total area of 2.63 square miles (6.81 square kilometre), of which, 1.61 square miles (4.17 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.01 square miles (2.62 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 101st largest by area in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Oregon.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1687 residents, 16 households, and 12 families in the city. The population density was 1044.8 people per square mile (403.4/kmē), giving it the 187th most densely populated city among the Oregon. There were 733 housing units at an average density of 455.3 per square mile (175.79/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.53 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 27% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 13% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males. The median age was 37 years, The median age of males was 36 years, for females the median age was 37.8 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 92.83% White, 0.06% Black or African American, 1.48% American Indian, 0.36% Asian, 0.24% Native Hawaiian, 3.68% from two or more races and 1.36% Other races.
