Purvis City, Lamar County, Mississippi is a city located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of the city was 2164 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2647, It is the 116th largest by population in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The city encompasses an area of 3.94 sq mi (10.2 kmē ), of which, 3.93 square miles (10.18 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, it is the 127th largest by area in the U.S. state of Mississippi.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2164 residents, 786 households, and 578 families in the city. The population density was 551 people per square mile (212.74/kmē), it is Mississippi's 168th most densely populated city.
