Pulaski County is a county located in Virginia, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 35127 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 34987, It is 50th most populous county in Virginia. The county comprises an area of 329.59 sq mi (853.63 sq km), of which, 320.57 square miles (830.27 sq km) of it is land and 9.03 square miles (23.39 sq km) of it is water, it is the 65th largest by area in the U.S. state of Virginia.

The population density was 109.6 people per square mile (42.32/kmē), making it the 60th most densely populated county in Virginia. There were 16325 housing units at an average density of 50.9 per square mile (19.65/kmē). The average household size was 2.32 persons, and the average family size was 2.8 persons. The population's age distribution was 20.6% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.2 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 34987, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 92.25% White, 6.12% Black or African American, 0.17% American Indian, 0.37% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.05% from two or more races.
