Prospect Park Borough is a one of the Passaic County, New Jersey, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Prospect Park Borough is home to 5779 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 5594, giving it the 265th largest population among New Jersey. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.48 sq mi (1.24 sq km), giving it the 21st smallest by total area among New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5779 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the borough. The population density was 12043.7 people per square mile (4650.1/kmē), it is the 18th most densely populated borough in the U.S. state of New Jersey. In the borough the population was spread out, with 29.6% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 18.5% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 110.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 118 females. The median age is 30.9 years, the median age of male residents at 29.2 and the median age of female residents at 32.2. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 61.17% White, 13.65% Black or African American, 0.42% American Indian, 3.15% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, 7.84% from two or more races and 13.7% Other races.
