Prince George County is a United States county located in the United States of Virginia. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 33047 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 36089, giving it the 46th largest population among Virginia's county. The county spans an area of 281.85 square miles (729.99 kmē), of which, 265.62 square miles (687.95 kmē) of it is land and 16.23 square miles (42.04 kmē) of it is water, it is the 79th largest by area in the U.S. state of Virginia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 33047 people in the county, organized into 10159 households, and 8097 families living in the county. The population density was 124.4 people per square mile (48.03/kmē), making it the 58th most densely populated county in Virginia. There were 10726 housing units at an average density of 40.4 per square mile (15.6/kmē). The average household size was 2.76 persons, and the average family size was 3.11 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.1% under the age of 18, 13.6% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 117 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 120.9 males. Its population was estimated at 36089 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 21816 White, 12616 Black or African American, 204 American Indian, 741 Asian, 65 Native Hawaiian, and 647 from two or more races.
