Price County, Wisconsin


Price County is one of the 72 county of Wisconsin, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. Price County had an official population of 15822 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 14278, It is the seventh smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Its area is just over 1278.43 sq mi (3311.12 square kilometre), of which, 1252.56 square miles (3244.12 square kilometre) of it is land and 25.87 square miles (67 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the ninth largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 15822 people, 6564 households, and 4416 families residing in the county. The population density was 12.6 people per square mile (4.86/kmē), making it the fifth least densely populated county in Wisconsin. There were 9574 housing units at an average density of 7.6 per square mile (2.93/kmē). The average household size was 2.37 people, and the average family size was 2.91 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.8% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 14278, The racial makeup of the county was 97.83% White, 0.17% Black or African American, 0.76% American Indian, 0.41% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.8% from two or more races.
