Preston City, Idaho


Preston City is a city located in Franklin County, Idaho, in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The city has a population of 4682 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 5059, making it Idaho's 31st largest. Its area is just over 6.68 sq mi (17.3 kmē), giving it the 20th largest by total area among Idaho.

The population density was 701 people per square mile (270.66/kmē), it is 60th least densely populated city in Idaho. There were 1640 housing units at an average density of 245.5 per square mile (94.79/kmē). It has an average household size was 3.01 persons, and the average family size was 3.5 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 35.3% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 15.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males.
