Prairie City City, Iowa is a city of the Jasper County, Iowa, United States. In 2000, city's population was 1365 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1436, giving it the 212th largest population among Iowa. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.15 mi˛ (2.98 square kilometre), it is the 313th largest in terms of geographical size.
