Power County, Idaho


Power County is a one of the county from Idaho's 44 counties, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Power County is home to 7538 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 7683, making it Idaho's 12th smallest county. The county spans an area of 1442.6 square miles (3736.32 square kilometre), of which, 1405.57 square miles (3640.41 square kilometre) of it is land and 37.03 square miles (95.91 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 21st largest by size in Idaho. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Idaho.

The population density was 5.4 people per square mile (2.08/kmē), it is the 29th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Idaho. There were 2844 housing units at an average density of 2 per square mile (0.77/kmē). The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.38. In the county the population was spread out, with 33.8% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 99 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 100.1 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 7683, The racial makeup of the county was 94.81% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 3.89% American Indian, 0.34% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 0.7% from two or more races.
