Poughkeepsie City is a city located in the Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 29871 as per the Census data. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 29654, making it New York's 40th largest. It has total area of 5.7 square miles (14.76 sq km), of which, 5.14 square miles (13.31 sq km) of it is land and 0.55 square miles (1.42 sq km) of it is water, it is the 153rd largest by area in the U.S. state of New York.
