Portland City is a United States city located in the Ionia County, Michigan, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 3789 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 3687, giving it the 221st largest population among Michigan. The city encompasses an area of 2.52 square miles (6.53 kmē ), of which, 2.4 square miles (6.22 kmē) of it is land and 0.12 square miles (0.31 kmē) of it is water, making it Michigan's 274th largest by total area.
