Porter Town is a town located in the Porter County, Indiana, United States. In 2000, the population was 4972. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 5379, making it the 122nd most populous in Indiana. The town spans an area of 6.61 sq mi (17.12 sq km), of which, 6.3 square miles (16.32 sq km) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 sq km) of it is water, it is the 75th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 4972 people, 1844 households, and 1300 families residing in the town. The population density was 788.8 people per square mile (304.56/kmē), it is 99th least densely populated town in Indiana. There were 1966 housing units at an average density of 312.1 per square mile (120.5/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.62 persons, and the average family size was 3.12 persons. In the town Age distribution was 28.3% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males.
