Portage City, Michigan is a city of the Kalamazoo County, Michigan, United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Portage City is home to 44897 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 46133, making it Michigan's 34th largest. The city has a total area of 35.03 mi˛ (90.73 square kilometre), of which, 32.2 square miles (83.4 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.82 square miles (7.3 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 12th largest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.
