Port Townsend City is a one of the Jefferson County, Washington, located in Western Region (Pacific) of United States. It is home to over 8334 people (2000 census). According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 9133, It is the 122nd most populous in the U.S. state of Washington. The town has a total area of 9.45 sq mi (24.48 square kilometre), of which, 6.99 square miles (18.1 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.46 square miles (6.37 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 95th largest by total area in Washington.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8334 people, 3917 households, and 2203 families residing in the town. The population density was 1191.8 people per square mile (460.16/kmē), making it the 227th most densely populated town in Washington.
