Port Richey City is one of the city of Pasco County, Florida, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 3021 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 3412, It is the 544th most populous in the U.S. state of Florida. It has total area of 2.74 mi˛ (7.1 square kilometre), of which, 2.11 square miles (5.46 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.63 square miles (1.63 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Florida's 521st largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3021 people, 1424 households, and 771 families living in the city. The population density was 1433.9 people per square mile (553.63/km˛), it is 488th most densely populated city in Florida. There were 1746 housing units at an average density of 827.5 per square mile (319.5/km˛). The average household size was 2.02 and the average family size was 2.61. In the city the population was spread out, with 14.8% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 25% from 25 to 44, 26.7% from 45 to 64, and 27.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males. The median age of the city's population was 47.6 years, the median age of male residents at 45.2 and the median age of female residents at 50. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 96.13% White, 0.63% Black or African American, 0.6% American Indian, 1.09% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, 1.13% from two or more races and 0.36% Other races.
