Port Jervis City is a one of the Orange County, New York, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 8860 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 9111, It is New York's 211th largest by population . The city extends throughout a territory of 2.71 mi˛ (7.02 sq km ), of which, 2.54 square miles (6.58 sq km) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 sq km) of it is water, it is the 416th largest in terms of geographical size.

The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 89.8% White, 4.5% Black or African American, 0.59% American Indian, 0.64% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, 2.26% from two or more races and 2.19% Other races.
