Port Aransas City is one of the city of Nueces County, Texas, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 3370. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 3842, It is the 456th largest by population in the U.S. state of Texas. The city comprises an area of 12.07 sq mi (31.26 kmē), of which, 8.81 square miles (22.82 kmē) of it is land and 3.26 square miles (8.44 kmē) of it is water, it is the 193rd largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3370 residents, 1542 households, and 993 families in the city. The population density was 382.5 people per square mile (147.68/kmē), it would be the 407th least densely populated city in the U.S. state of Texas. There were 3794 housing units at an average density of 430.6 per square mile (166.26/kmē). The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.64. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 18.9% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 34.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 108.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.6 males. The median age is 45.1 years, the median age of male residents at 45.3 and the median age of female residents at 45. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 93.92% White, 0.42% Black or African American, 1.25% American Indian, 0.86% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, 1.36% from two or more races and 2.17% Other races.
