Port Allen City, Louisiana


Port Allen City is a one of the West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 5278 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 4984, making it Louisiana's 101st largest. The city comprises an area of 2.63 square miles (6.81 square kilometre), of which, 2.12 square miles (5.49 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.51 square miles (1.32 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 216th largest by total area among Louisiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5278 people, 400 households, and 290 families residing in the city. The population density was 2486.3 people per square mile (959.97/kmē), it would be the 36th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. There were 2158 housing units at an average density of 1017.9 per square mile (393.01/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.56 persons, and the average family size was 3.09 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 25.5% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 84.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.1 males.
