Pope County is a county located in the United States of Minnesota. The population of the county was 11236 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 11030, making it Minnesota's 23rd smallest county. Its area is just over 717.29 sq mi (1857.77 sq km), of which, 670.14 square miles (1735.65 sq km) of it is land and 47.15 square miles (122.12 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 44th largest by total area among Minnesota's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 11236 people, 4513 households, and 3064 families living in the county. The population density was 16.8 people per square mile (6.49/kmē), it is 27th least densely populated county in Minnesota. There were 5827 housing units at an average density of 8.7 per square mile (3.36/kmē). The average household size was 2.42 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.8% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 21.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.9 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 11030, The racial makeup of the county was 98.73% White, 0.25% Black or African American, 0.26% American Indian, 0.12% Asian, 0.09% Native Hawaiian, and 0.54% from two or more races.
