Pope County is a county in the United States of Arkansas. As of 2000 the population was 54469. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 59952, It is Arkansas's 12th most populous county. It is spread over 830.79 sq mi (2151.74 square kilometre), of which, 811.9 square miles (2102.81 square kilometre ) of it is land and 18.89 square miles (48.92 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 15th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 54469 people in the county, organized into 20701 households, and 14998 families residing in the county. The population density was 67.1 people per square mile (25.91/kmē), it is Arkansas's 14th most densely populated county. There were 22851 housing units at an average density of 28.1 per square mile (10.85/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.55 persons, and the average family size was 3 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25.5% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.1 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 59952, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 56235 White, 1998 Black or African American, 412 American Indian, 482 Asian, 14 Native Hawaiian, and 811 from two or more races.
