Ponderay City is one of the city of Bonner County, Idaho, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 638 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 696, making it the 110th most populous in Idaho. It has total area of 2.79 square miles (7.23 sq km), of which, 2.68 square miles (6.94 sq km) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 42nd largest by total area in Idaho. It is ranks 12 in the size of its inland waterways in Idaho.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 638 people, 264 households, and 169 families living in the city. The population density was 237.9 people per square mile (91.85/kmē), giving it the 24th least densely populated city among the Idaho. There were 296 housing units at an average density of 110.4 per square mile (42.63/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.88 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 27% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 117.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.1 males. The median age was 37.4 years, The median age of males was 35.7 years, for females the median age was 39.3 years. The racial makeup of the city was 619 White, 3 Black or African American, 4 American Indian, 7 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 3 from two or more races and 2 Ohter races.
