Polk County is a United States county located in the United States of Tennessee. The population of county in 2000 stood at 16050 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 15671, It is the 20th smallest in terms of population. The county comprises an area of 442.35 mi˛ (1145.68 square kilometre), of which, 435.05 square miles (1126.77 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.3 square miles (18.91 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 49th largest by size in Tennessee.

For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.8 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 15671, The racial makeup of the county was 97.43% White, 0.95% Black or African American, 0.36% American Indian, 0.12% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.12% from two or more races.
