Polk County is a county located in Oregon, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Polk County is home to 62380 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 77074 in July 2008, making it the 13th most populous county in Oregon. The county has a total area of 744.15 mi˛ (1927.34 square kilometre), of which, 741.03 square miles (1919.26 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.12 square miles (8.08 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the seventh smallest by total area among Oregon's county.

The population density was 84.2 people per square mile (32.51/km˛), it is the seventh most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Oregon. There were 24461 housing units at an average density of 33 per square mile (12.74/km˛). The average household size was 2.62 persons, and the average family size was 3.07 persons. In the county Age distribution was 25.4% under the age of 18, 11.7% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 77074, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 93.06% White, 0.82% Black or African American, 1.88% American Indian, 1.68% Asian, 0.26% Native Hawaiian, and 2.3% from two or more races.
