Pocatello City, Idaho


Pocatello City is a city located in Bannock and Power counties, Idaho, in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 51466 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 54901, making it the third most populous in Idaho. The city has a total area of 28.24 square miles (73.14 square kilometre), makes it the fourth largest by total area in Idaho.

As of the census of 2000, there were 51466 people in the city, organized into 19334 households, and 12966 families living in the city. The population density was 1822.5 people per square mile (703.67/kmē), it is the 55th most populated city in terms of population density. There were 20627 housing units at an average density of 730.4 per square mile (282.01/kmē). The average household size was 2.58 people, and the average family size was 3.1 people. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.6% under the age of 18, 16.7% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.3 males. The median age is 28.8 years, the median age of male residents at 28.3 and the median age of female residents at 29.4. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 47513 White, 369 Black or African American, 693 American Indian, 590 Asian, 103 Native Hawaiian, 1078 from two or more races and 1120 Ohter races.
