Plymouth County is a county in the United States of Massachusetts. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 472822 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 492066, It is Massachusetts's seventh most populous county. The county encompasses an area of 1093.39 mi˛ (2831.87 sq km ), of which, 660.85 square miles (1711.59 sq km) of it is land and 432.54 square miles (1120.27 sq km) of it is water, it is the third largest by area in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Massachusetts.

As of the census of 2000, there were 472822 people, 168361 households, and 122421 families living in the county. The population density was 715.5 people per square mile (276.26/km˛), it would be the seventh most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. There were 181524 housing units at an average density of 274.7 per square mile (106.06/km˛). The average household size was 2.74 persons, and the average family size was 3.23 persons. In the county Age distribution was 26.8% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 492066, The racial makeup of the county was 437657 White, 40000 Black or African American, 1339 American Indian, 6260 Asian, 267 Native Hawaiian, and 6543 from two or more races.
