According to the 2000 census it had a population of 2851 inhabitants. It is the 208th largest by population in the U.S. state of Maryland. Its area is just over 4.37 mi˛ (11.32 square kilometre), making it the 148th largest by size in Maryland.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2851 people in the census designated place, organized into 1026 households, and 855 families residing in the census designated place. The population density was 652 people per square mile (251.74/km˛), making its Maryland's 72nd least densely populated census designated place.
