Platte County, Wyoming is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. In 2000, the population was 8807. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 8294, It is Wyoming's sixth least populous county. It covers total area of 2110.9 sq mi (5467.21 kmē), of which, 2084.93 square miles (5399.94 kmē) of it is land and 25.97 square miles (67.26 kmē) of it is water, it is the third smallest by area in the U.S. state of Wyoming. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in Wyoming.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8807 residents, 3625 households, and 2495 families in the county. The population density was 4.2 people per square mile (1.62/kmē), it is ninth most densely populated county in Wyoming. There were 4528 housing units at an average density of 2.2 per square mile (0.85/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.4 persons, and the average family size was 2.92 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.4% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 103.6 females. Its population was estimated at 8294 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.71% White, 0.25% Black or African American, 0.69% American Indian, 0.3% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 1.04% from two or more races.
