Platea Borough, Pennsylvania


Platea Borough is a borough located in Erie County, Pennsylvania, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 474 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 438, making it the 290th least populous in Pennsylvania. The borough extends throughout a territory of 3.29 miē (8.52 kmē ), it is the 192nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 474 people, 172 households, and 137 families living in the borough. The population density was 144 people per square mile (55.6/kmē), making it the 46th least densely populated borough in Pennsylvania. There were 184 housing units at an average density of 55.9 per square mile (21.58/kmē). The average household size was 2.76 people, and the average family size was 3.04 people. In the borough the population was spread out, with 25.1% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 98.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 92.9 females. The median age is 38.1 years, The median age of males was 37.4 years, for females the median age was 38.6 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 97.89% White, 0.42% Black or African American, 0% American Indian, 0% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.84% from two or more races and 0.84% Other races.
